“Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech: ‘How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.’” Proverbs 1:20-23
Wisdom calls aloud. Can you hear it? She’s in the public square. Her voice can be heard from the top of the wall. Wisdom makes speeches at the city gate. In other words, wisdom is available to us at any time, in any place, at every moment of the day.
What does it take to hear wisdom’s voice?
Repentance opens the door, because it leads us right into God’s presence. That is the place where we can sit at the feet of the Master and be schooled in all the wonders of the world. And then the Lord will pour out His thoughts to us. He will make known His teachings. These are wonderful promises for us. We can open God’s Word at any moment of any day and be flooded with God’s thoughts and His wisdom and His teaching that goes beyond our ability to even comprehend.
Wisdom is calling. Can you hear it?
Jesus, You said that Your sheep hear Your voice. Help us to be a people who listen, who learn, who grow in Your presence.
