“A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.” Proverbs 12:4.
In many of the verses in Proverbs 12, we see big contrasts. Verse 4 gives us a look at two different women.
One is a wife of noble character. She does what is right. She follows the Lord. Her husband has confidence in her because she is a woman of her word. That wife is a crown to her husband. He adores her so much, that he lifts her above himself. She is a crowning glory to him.
Then the contrast is a disgraceful wife, one who does not do what is right, a woman who is not trusted because she is not a woman of her word. That woman is like decay in her husband’s bones. That woman is like a cancer in the home. She is a source of destruction.
The only way to be noble is to follow Jesus. A wife who does that is a blessing to her husband and her whole family.
But the one who does not follow the Lord opens the door for decay.
It comes down to a choice.
Lord, help me to be a person of noble character by following You.
