“I do not sit with the deceitful, nor do I associate with hypocrites. I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked. I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, Lord, proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 26:4-7
David is giving us some very powerful advice in these few verses. He is letting us know that he is careful about his choices. He is not going to take wrong counsel or let wicked men influence him. He is going to go to the Lord’s altar and give testimony about God.
He is giving us both sides to Kingdom success. Don’t allow the wrong input but instead take time with the Lord and then tell what He is doing.
For us that is not always as easy as it sounds. The wrong input is all around us. Television, music, books, and entertainment are often based in the opposite of God’s Word.
David tells us that he refuses to sit with the wicked and evildoers. As we turn on our TV or sit in the theater, can we say the same thing?
Lord, please give me discernment in what I watch, who I listen to and what I read. I want to listen to Your voice.
