“Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir. Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. The city of Tyre will come with a gift, people of wealth will seek your favor. All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her—those brought to be with her. Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the king.” Psalm 45:9-15
Weddings are among our most joyous occasions. We ooh and awe at the beautiful gown. We smell the fragrance of the flowers. We see the looks of love and bliss on the faces of the happy couple, and it makes our hearts glad. Those who get to look on and watch the event thrill and rejoice at the couple’s ecstatic state. We might even be overcome with tears of joy.
Weddings are glorious moments and what could be better?
Better? Better is being the bride, the one who is the princess, the one who gets to become the wife of the king, the one who is privileged to enter into the holy estate of matrimony.
And here’s the good news, being the bride is in every one of our futures when we know the Lord. Revelation 19:7-8 says, “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”
Oh yes, that day awaits. It’s possible that even today the first glorious chords of the wedding march will sound. Time to get ready!
Jesus, I know You came to get a bride. Thank You that because I know You, because I have said, “Yes” and made that vow of commitment, I will one day be dressed in fine linen and waiting for You, my eternal Bridegroom.
