“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.” Psalm 133:1-3
We live in a world of much division. Politics, race, gender, money, position, it seems at every turn there is something to fight or argue about. Families have stopped speaking over finances. There are major arguments about how far is far enough when social distancing. We have fights over the correct use of masks. People have attacked each other on the highways due to their road rage and it’s sometimes after the slightest of infractions. A person at a restaurant can be accosted just sitting there eating a meal. Churches have split over hurt feelings. It’s ugly. It’s excruciating. It’s awful.
God wants us to dwell together in unity. He wants us to experience peace and harmony and how good it is when God’s people dwell together in unity. What can bring our world together? When we kneel together at the feet of Jesus, when we open our hearts in prayer, when we lift our voices together in worship, when we are consumed with His presence over ours, there is no room for fighting, there is only Him. He is our only hope.
Jesus, today I yield my heart to You and ask for Your forgiveness for the sin and willfulness in me. I submit my life to Your leadership. I pray for unity in my family, my church, my city, my nation, my world. You are the only hope.
