“Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” Psalm 48:9-14
I have had the great privilege of walking around Zion. My feet have walked over the paths that Jesus walked. I have strolled through Jerusalem, seen remains of her buildings, the rocks there have indeed cried out. I have shopped in her shops, spoken with her residents, sampled her cuisine, and relished her sights. And then I have had the thrilling opportunity of returning to the States to tell of the wondrous sights to this and the next generations. It has been one of my greatest joys.
God loves the land of Israel. God loves His people. They are living proof of the veracity of His Word. Even if our feet never set foot on Israeli soil, we can firmly plant our feet on that truth.
Father, how grateful I am for Israel. How grateful I am for Jerusalem. I am so thankful that You show us, even through the crumbling rocks, the truth of Your Word.
