Wise words from a wise mother, “Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb! Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers! Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. It is not for kings, Lemuel—it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. Let beer be for those who are perishing, wine for those who are in anguish! Let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:2-9
Stay away from wayward women and alcohol. Judge fairly and defend the poor and needy.
Hmmm, really good advice. There are pitfalls in life and if we can encourage our children to steer clear of them, their lives will be so much better. If we can teach our children to be just, their decisions will be good.
From the time they are born, if we begin to speak to them of the Lord and the teachings of the Bible, it will make an impact. God’s Word has staying power; it will not return void. We can count on it.
Lord, I lift up my children and grandchildren. Please let the Biblical truths they have been taught well up in them. Let them never get away from Your teaching.
