“As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.” Psalm 17:15
How do we see the likeness of God? There is almost no description of what God looks like in the Bible. Jesus is described in a sort of nondescript way that there was nothing about His physical appearance that would draw us to Him.
So, what does it mean here that we can be satisfied by seeing His likeness?
John 1:14 says: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Jesus is the Word made flesh. The more we read and study the Scripture the more we see what He looks like. Every morning we can awaken to grab our steaming mug of coffee or hot cup of tea and sit down with the very likeness of God as we open our Bibles. It is a lovely way to begin each day.
Jesus, thank You that You are the Word made flesh. Help me to study and learn Your Word more every day so I can see You more clearly.
