“Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked. By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.” Psalm 17:13-14
Under the safety of God’s wings, right smack in the center of His eye, David could ask God to bring His sword to fight the battle. Years before this psalm was written, David had confronted Goliath. Yet he knew he wasn’t doing the fighting. He knew he was facing the giant behind the sword of the Lord. He stood before Goliath with these words, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” I Samuel 17:45
What giants are standing before us today? What fears or enemies are trying to make us cower? We can ask our Lord and Savior to bring His sword to the fight. He will, and He always wins.
Lord, it feels like enemies are around me. Please come to fight the battles for me. I trust in You and Your power to topple the giants that loom ahead. Thank You.
