“The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the Lord on high is mighty. Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.” Psalm 93:1-5
Every time I’ve ever been to the ocean, I’ve been struck by the fact that it is so powerful. I feel small in comparison to the waves crashing against the shore. There is strength in the ocean. But no matter how powerful the waves seem to be, God is stronger than the waves. He’s stronger than the wind. When we see and hear the ocean, we can be reminded that the waves are lifting up their voices in praise to the One who created them.
Seeing the ocean is a lovely thing. It is beauty that we get to experience. But perhaps today, you feel like you are facing something that powerful, but it is not beautiful. Maybe it feels like it’s about to engulf you. Is it a disease, or financial trouble, or fear for the future?
Just like God is more powerful than the ocean, He’s more powerful than any trouble or sickness or financial challenge. Turn it over to Him and then praise Him.
Lord, today I choose to turn over all my fear, all my anxiety, all the waves that try to engulf me. I choose to trust You.
