At Christmas time, we often look back. Some memories are filled with lovely surprises like the Christmas we got our first bike, or the gaming system we so desperately wanted. Some are filled with sad memories because someone who was always there, suddenly wasn’t.
Some of our present days can also be filled with sad times if this year we have experienced loss.
But today let’s focus on the future. What does tomorrow bring, or next week, or next month, or next year?
While we cannot know for sure, we can stand on this, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11
Wow! That’s some promise. God said He has plans and they include a hope and a future.
Does that mean everything in our future days will be all rainbows and roses?
No, it doesn’t.
But what it does mean is that God will walk us through the stormy times as well as the sunshine. He will be with us, and we can rest in that.
So, for today let’s be thankful for a future that our Heavenly Father holds in His hands.
