Well, it’s the season. You can see it on the faces of boys and girls. You can hear it in their squeals of delight. You can watch it as their enthusiasm spills over into dance or wiggles or raucous giggles. Children know it. They recognize it. They are looking forward to those special presents and sweet gifts and their little hearts are flooded with joy at the anticipation.
It is a season of joy.
And it should be, not just for children, but for all of us, regardless of the circumstances going on in our lives.
It is the season of joy because this moment changed the course of human history and is still changing lives today.
It is the season of joy, because the greatest joy the world has ever or will ever know came to earth. God wrapped Himself in human flesh. God limited Himself to humanity. The God of the universe came to us.
When the angel announced His birth, these are the words he used, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” Luke 2:10
And “all the people” includes each and every one of us.
That should fill our hearts with the biggest joy any of us has ever or will ever know, erupting into laughter and giggles and maybe even a dance or two
