“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.” Psalm 32:8-10
There is a book available to us that is so fascinating, so filled with wisdom, counsel, mystery, adventure, comfort and challenge that it can captivate us every day of our lives. It is God’s written Word, and we call it the Bible. It is one book, made up of sixty-six books that tell one story. It is God’s story of redemption and how we fit into it. Every page reveals to us who the Lord is and what He wants to do in our lives.
It is His book of instruction to us. He has given it. We need to receive it. We open it, read it, study it, listen to it, pay attention to it, obey it, and share it with others.
Horses and mules need bridles and bits to control their movements. Those are wonderful tools for them. But what God has given us is a book. It is what we need to learn to know how to live.
Determine to make it a part of your life with Him.
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your Word. Help me to be faithful to read and study it.
