“In the course of my life he broke my strength; he cut short my days. So I said: ‘Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days; your years go on through all generations. In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end. The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.’”
The writer in this passage today tells us that his strength and days were cut short. We aren’t quite sure what he means by that but it sounds like he was facing difficult times. We are sure of how he responds.
No matter what we face. No matter how difficult the challenges. No matter how much we have lost or how much hurt we encounter. The answer is to pray. Take everything to the Lord in prayer. We live in the midst of a battle. We have an enemy who wants to take us out. Our very best weapon is raised on our knees. We have a Captain who will fight for us if we will go to Him in prayer.
And after we have prayed we pick up our sword, the Word of God. Read, study, memorize, fill your heart and mind with His Word and then run to the battle.
We pray. We study.
I come to You and ask You to be in charge of every moment of my life. Please go before me in the battle and help me to become equipped to stay right behind You in the fray.
