“I will praise the Lord who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Praise, thanksgiving, adoration, worship, singing, dancing, these are the right responses to all that God is and all that He has done.
Once a year we have a day set aside we call Thanksgiving. It’s a glorious day filled with feasting and family and fun, but let’s remember that our hearts need to be filled with thanksgiving every day of our lives.
Maybe today as I’m driving I could sing along with some praise music in my car. If no one else is with me and it’s for His ears only I could sing out His praises at the top of my lungs.
Perhaps, I could set aside some extra time to tell the Lord how grateful I am for all the people, places and things that He has placed in my life.
Or I could bless His name for salvation and counsel and instruction and not abandoning me to the grave because the moment I stop breathing here I will take my first breath in heaven.
Father, help me to remember that every day is a day for Thanksgiving.
