“The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.” Psalm 29:3-5
As this psalm was being written, these few verses settle on God’s voice and its incredible power. It is like thunder. It is awesome, mighty, and majestic. It is so powerful that it can break trees.
Think about that. This is God’s voice and it can break trees.
Yesterday, my husband and I were on our way to pick up our grandson from school. It had been a day of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and warnings. Most of it had passed over us but on the way to get him we saw two downed trees. One had been broken at the base and then it’s roots yanked. The other had just been ripped from the ground by the powerful winds. They had come down in such a way that neither the house nor lives had suffered, but it left a huge mess. The wind had downed the trees.
God’s voice is stronger than that. When He speaks we need to listen.
But do we?
His Word is His voice. We need to read it, believe it, act on it and obey it. His Word is powerful. His Word is awesome, mighty, and majestic.
We need to listen.
Please help me to listen to Your voice and obey what I hear you telling me. Help me to read and obey Your Word.
