Psalm 20:8-9, “They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Lord, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call!”
Those who trust in horses and chariots are going to fall. It is inevitable. Things, our possessions, will never be able to save us. Stuff has no power to protect or keep us from harm.
Only Jesus can do that.
Have you ever had an injury that caused you not to be able to stand? Or maybe surgery left you flat for a while and when the nurses came to get you up, you doubled over in pain.
None of that is fun.
This verse tells us that we can stand firm in the Lord. Ephesians 6 reminds us to put on the whole armor of God. Each piece is vital and after donning all of it and having done everything we need to do, we can stand. This means we can stand spiritually. No matter what the enemy throws against us, we can stand up against it because we have a shield like no other. We have a sword like no other. We have a Savior that can save.
Lord, hear my cry. Answer me when I call. Help me to always stand for You.
