Songs of Praise

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.” Psalm 96:1-6

Sing… sing... sing. Do you get the idea that we are to sing? The whole earth is to sing and we are to sing new songs. Now, we may not always like singing new songs at church. It may stretch us to learn something new. But God loves the new songs as well as those old, old favorites.

We are to sing songs of praise. Why? Because God is worthy of it. He deserves our praise and adoration poured out in our music that declares His marvelous deeds and majesty.

What a privilege to lift up our voices in song. What a joy to sing about our Creator, Savior, Redeemer, and very best Friend.

Today, lift your voice. He is listening.

Lord God Almighty, help me to always remember, that whether the songs are new or old, You inhabit the praise of Your people.
