Social Ladder

“Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.”

Psalm 68:4-6

There is no better way to live than to follow the Lord. These verses make it very clear that He cares about everyone.

In that culture to be fatherless or a widow could very well have meant that you were at the bottom of the social ladder. It could have meant you had no one to care for you or care about you. There were no government programs to feed the fatherless. Widows didn’t receive huge insurance sums. Often this group was singled out to be the desperate, destitute.

But God’s Word is very clear here. He cares. He cares about every rung of society. It doesn’t stop Him from loving you even if the world has declared you at the bottom. Throughout Scripture we see God choosing the very least to become the warriors, champions in His Kingdom.

Look at your circumstances. It doesn’t matter how stellar or how difficult your past has been. Yield your life to Jesus and let Him become your champion to turn you into one who will make a difference.

I am asking You, Lord Jesus, to help me to be someone who will make a Kingdom difference.
