Our world has been in the middle of a pandemic. Churches stopped meeting, businesses shut down, restaurants could only serve drive-through or delivery meals, some of the busiest streets in the world have been empty.
People were asked to stay at home, hunker down, shelter in place. Staying away from one another was part of the prevention and yet thousands have become infected.
We’re longing for the country to return to normal and yet, it will be a new normal. No one really knows what that will look like but the hope is that we will get through this together.
So maybe the question we’re asking is, “How is God moving in this?” First of all, we trust that God works through all situations. We see that over and over again in His Word. Think about this, the world has been put into a time-out posture and forced to evaluate what is really important. But here is one of the big questions, “Is God using this to get the Gospel out around the world?”
The Gospel is being preached through live streaming and video recordings. Facebook, YouTube, Zoom, and all forms of social media are being used to get the Word out. In some places, Bibles are flying off the shelves. Music, stories, books are being purchased to grow in the Lord.
Is the Gospel being preached throughout the world in spite of a global shutdown? Is the message reaching places it has never gone? Here is the answer.
“Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.” Psalm 98:1-3
Heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s Word will never pass away.
Lord, I ask that You would open our eyes to see how You are using the events played out before us and trust You through it.
