It was a tornado. It was sighted and headed for the school. I had twenty-two kindergarten kids in my care. I prayed and stood over them trying to figure out how I could shelter all of them at the same time should the storm hit the school.
I didn’t have to find out. It hopped over our building and no damage was done, but I will never forget how I felt. I wanted to protect all of them but wasn’t sure how I could.
The Lord does know how He can. He is our refuge. He is our safe place. He is big enough to shelter all of us.
We run to Him.
And His protection is not just in the time of a storm. His protection is for all time and eternity when we come to Him. He will rescue us, deliver us, and save us. All we have to do is come to Him and ask.
“In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.” Psalm 71:1-4
I come to You, Lord Jesus, and ask You to shelter and save me. I trust You with everything in my life.
