Let’s see, which would you rather have? A place of safety that God Himself has provided for you, or a place that you’ve secured with your wealth?
While you are pondering that question let me merely say that I have personally seen the devastation that can come because of a tornado. An entire school was ravaged by a circular cone of wind. I saw pictures of a huge yellow school bus, which had been picked up by that wind and tossed into a place of business. News media has covered tsunamis that hit and destroyed everything in their wake. Fires have decimated huge buildings. And none of us can forget the destruction that men brought as they flew their planes straight into two strong towers.
Now let me ask you again. Which would you rather have? A place of safety that God himself has provided for you, or a place that you’ve secured with your wealth?
“One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys. The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale. Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.” Proverbs 18:9-13
The name of the Lord is a fortified tower. That one can never be destroyed. It is the place we can run to at any moment, from any place. We are never away from His name.
So, what would I choose? I’ll take God’s provision for my life every single day of the week.
Heavenly Father, I am so grateful that I can run to Your place of safety. Your name is a fortified tower. Thank You.
