Revelation 1:12-13

The Revelation

“I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.”

Revelation 1:12-13

John turned around…

He was looking one direction but suddenly had to turn.

What direction are we looking? There are times in our lives when we need to stop, look, evaluate, and turn around.

In the Old Testament, one of the Hebrew words for repentance means to turn. We turn from sin and turn toward the Lord.

Is there anything in my life that needs to be changed? How can I better serve the Lord? What part of me needs to turn?

In Daniel 9:4-19, Daniel prayed a prayer of repentance. He prayed for himself. He prayed for his nation. It can become the cry of our hearts.

In Revelation, the Voice was speaking to John.

The Voice is speaking to us.

But the great beauty of this is that when John did turn around, he saw. He saw the Lord. Jesus was right there with him. Oh, how I want that in my life. I want to see Jesus more clearly, more closely, more intimately. I want to see Him.
