Revelation 1:10-11

The Revelation

“On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: ‘Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.’” Revelation 1:10-11

This was a new job. It was a big assignment and John was an old guy. He was in exile. He was a prisoner. He had a whole lot of reasons why he couldn’t take on a new job. He could have come up with some excuses for not doing this. And yet, he didn’t. God was about to take John on the biggest joy-filled-ride any person on the planet would ever experience. He was getting an all-expense-paid trip to view heaven and to gaze into the future. Just think about what he would have missed, if he had asked God to pick someone else.

God has jobs for every one of us to do. The calling of God continues even in the midst of difficult circumstances. We have been brought into the Kingdom for such a time as this.

When God calls, how will I respond and what will I miss if I come up with excuses for why I can’t do it?

Lord, please help me to say, “Yes,” to You when You call.
