“Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.”
Can’t you just hear the cry of the psalmist? He longed for God to move. He desired to see God’s hand of salvation. Restoration and revival are at the heart of this psalm. This was a great prayer for Israel then, but it is also an important prayer for all of us to pray. Do we want God to move in our world? Would we love to see revival in our cities and among our neighbors and in our churches? Do we know those who need to be restored? Then we need to long for it and seek God for it.
Oh God, please move in our city. Please change hearts. Please bring revival to our world.
