This is a plea for restoration. It is recognizing that their actions have caused God to bring consequences that have been hard. Even the earth has seemed to shake beneath them and they recognize that they need help. They need the Lord to bring them back.
Frankly, this should always be our cry during difficult, trying circumstances. The Lord’s desire isn’t for us in the middle of desperate times, but He allows us to be there because sometimes it is the only thing that will bring us back to Him.
“You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry—now restore us! You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger. But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow.” Psalm 60:1-4
Father, please bring us back to a right relationship with You.
Restore us, Lord. Please give us back what has been damaged or destroyed. Please rebuild the walls that have been broken. Thank You.
