The word prudence is not one we hear often. It may seem a bit archaic, a little old-fashioned. But if someone acts in a prudent way we think of them as having wisdom, conducting their life in a way that is right and just. In this verse, we again see a huge contrast. This is between prudence and a warped mind.
“A person is praised according to their prudence, and one with a warped mind is despised.” Proverbs 12:8
One is praised, the other despised.
How do we become prudent? How can we avoid having a warped mind?
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
We renew our minds every day by being in God’s Word. There we find wisdom and direction to live a prudent life.
Your Word, Lord, is a lamp to my feet, a light to my path. Help me to walk in it and live a life that is prudent.
