I remember as a young girl walking out of church one Sunday and thinking to myself how cute I looked. Now, this was before wheelchair access was required and our little country church had about a dozen cement steps. I fell down all of them. My mom came rushing to my side. She saw I was okay but didn’t offer words of concern. Rather she rebuked me and asked what I thought I was doing. Apparently, I looked pretty haughty right before I fell. My nose was in the air as I missed the first step. The moments before my fall told it all.
These verses explain how to keep your feet from falling. It is good advice.
“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” Proverbs 4:10-12
God’s Word is the most important place to stand. It is safe, immovable, secure through time and eternity. When we read it and put it into action, we are in a very safe place. No more nose in the air, missing the steps. It is seeing where to place our feet.
I want to follow after You, Lord. I want to learn from Your Word just where I need to go. Thank You for Your direction.
