There is something in all of us that desires, even needs, recognition. We want to be patted on the back for our accomplishments. We want to hear, “Well done.” We want to be acknowledged. There is nothing wrong with that. And the Bible tells us the day is coming when God may say the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” to us and we will certainly bask in the glow of those words.
However, it will pale in the light of being able to praise and worship in person, the Lord, the Creator, the Sustainer, our Savior, Redeemer, Father, Friend, Bridegroom and on and on and on.
That face to face encounter will begin the second we step into eternity. But we need not wait. Every moment of everyday can be filled with praise and thanksgiving for what our God has done, what He is doing, and what He continues to do.
We can join the psalmist. “May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.” Psalm 67:3-5
Today, Lord, my heart is filled with praise and gratitude and thanksgiving for who You are.
