Our Privilege to Give

“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened — burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, ‘Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.’” Psalm 40:6-8

What is it that the Lord wants from us? Our gifts, offerings, time, talents, treasure? Sometimes listening to TV teachers and preachers it sounds like the most important thing we can do is reach into our wallets or write a check.

Scripture does outline a plan for giving but it isn’t because God needs our money. It’s because we need to give. It helps us to recognize that all we have comes from Him. It lets us in on the work God is doing around the world. We get to share in His Kingdom plan.

But what the Lord really wants from us is...well, us! He wants a relationship, friendship, family time. He loves us, more than we can possibly understand. He wants us to know Him and experience that love.

Join with David and say, “Here I am, I have come.”

I do come to You, Lord. I want to spend time with You. You are my best friend. You love me and I know it. Thank You.
