“...whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others;” Psalm 15:3
Once we become a follower of Jesus, how are we to treat our neighbors?
The same way Jesus would. We are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
Sometimes that can be pretty tough. But it is the command of the Lord that we love that way. So how do we do it?
First of all, we need to BE one of the Lord’s followers. He is the One who gives us that kind of love. We need to also know and live His Word. It is our instruction book to put into practice that kind of love.
If I love my neighbor, I won’t steal from him, slander him, hurt him in any way. If I love my neighbor I will look out for his interests and try to bring honor to him. It isn’t the way the world works. It is the way God’s Kingdom works and it is a testimony that there is a difference.
Loving my neighbor in such a powerful way is impossible for me at times, Lord. Please fill me with Your compassion and give me eyes to see the world the way You do.
