What comfort there is in this psalm. It declares that our hope is not in people. Our hope is in the Lord. He is the one who saves. He is the one who takes care of us now. He is the one who takes care of us eternally. Our hope is in Him.
We hear messages all the time that a person, a product, a trip, a program has changed someone’s life. All of those things can be good, but the real truth is that there is only One, His name is Jesus, who can bring real change for both today and forever. We all need a relationship with Him and He takes care of the rest. We put our trust in Him.
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.” Psalm 146:1-5
So, we echo with the psalmist the very words that begin this chapter, “Praise the Lord!”
We thank You because of all You have done, are doing, and will do in our lives. You have Your arms around us and we can rely on You.
