Over and over again in Scripture we read that God opposes the proud. Pride leads to destruction. Arrogance is not a Godly character trait and the Lord will deal with it. “You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes.” Psalm 119:21-22
Often the proud look down on the ones who are trying to follow God.
It’s hard being ridiculed and scorned. It’s tough being the object of derision. But we can rest in the fact that God will rebuke those who stray away from what He says. We can relax and let Him move.
This is a matter of trust. We can’t fight the world, but God can. We need to step back and merely allow Him to work.
Is that always easy?
Our tendency is to jump in and defend ourselves. But in these verses, we see that if we hide ourselves in God’s Word, He will defend us.
Father, sometimes the world looks down on me because I trust You and follow Your Word. You are my defense. Help me to place my hope and trust in You.
