David continued in his anger against those rulers who were unjust and evil. He didn’t mince words. He didn’t try to appease. He wasn’t concerned about being politically correct. He didn’t back down. Instead he said, “Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions! Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along, like a stillborn child that never sees the sun. Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.” Psalm 58:6-9
David was asking God to eliminate their power, take the teeth out of what they were doing. He wanted to make it as if they had not been born.
He knew that evil permeates. It grows. In 2 Timothy chapter 2, Paul refers to wicked influences as gangrene.
Look around. As Christians, our beliefs are mocked and are being trampled into the dust. From Genesis 1, we see that the very foundations, such as creation and God’s establishment of male and female, are being challenged and destroyed. Evolution is taught as fact and gender has been put on a sliding scale. How has this happened? Leaders who do not know God have established laws, rules, regulations, even school curriculum that are diametrically opposed to God and His Word. They are doing everything within their power to silence Christians.
So, what can we do?
Pray for our country. Pray for our leaders. Pray that wicked leaders will be ousted and Godly ones will be voted in. Pray for the people of our country that the righteous will rise up and not be silenced but the voices of the wicked will be stilled.
Once again, Lord, we pray for our local, state, national and world leaders. So many are leading people away from You. We ask that You would remove them from positions of power and replace them with leaders who follow You.
