When David was confronted with his sin, he began his plea that God would show him mercy. He continued by the great realization that his sin, all sin, is leveled against God. His cry continued, “Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.” Psalm 51:4-6
We look at a newborn and see innocence, but David called it correctly, we are infested with the sin nature at conception. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners. As David cried out to God, he realized that the Lord is the only hope.
There is one cure for sin…Christ.
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and my sin is against You. Thank You that 2000 years ago You died on a cross and then rose from the grave so that my sin could be forgiven.
