It is fairly common to turn on the news right now and see people shaking their fists in the air, screaming at the top of their lungs, declaring how they have been victimized. The actual offense can go back generations but the battle has been picked up and used as fodder to destroy and lay claim to rights that include looting, burning, breaking, even killing.
There is something very wrong with our approach to justice, because it does not result in healing and help, it results in more hurt and hatred.
Israel has suffered over and over again at the hands of oppressors throughout the centuries but the call is to look to the Lord. Freedom comes from Him. He will take care of the wicked. He will provide for those who love Him.
“‘They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,’ let Israel say; ‘they have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me. Plowmen have plowed my back and made their furrows long. But the Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.’” Psalm 129:1-4
Jesus, thank You for setting me free. I can forgive the hurt from the past and trust Your loving faithfulness.
