These verses today help us to understand that our actions speak. As people observe our lives they are able to discern if we are wise or foolish. Our lives declare to those around us, who and what we are.
“All who are prudent act with knowledge, but fools expose their folly. A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing. Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil. Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:16-20
There is incredibly beautiful counsel in this text. It outlines the path to wisdom. It instructs us to walk with the wise. That means our friends, what we read, watch, listen to, play. We need to ask, “Will I be better if I do this or will it harm me? Will I be wise or is this a foolish choice?”
Walk with the wise.
It is the wisest thing to do.
Lord, I want Your wisdom. Help me to be willing to walk with the wise.
