“My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.” Proverbs 6:20-22
Again, from a father’s heart come words of advice. We should follow what our parents tell us. God set the family in order. He placed each one of us in the family that we should be in.
Were our families perfect?
Not by a long shot.
But God doesn’t make mistakes. He placed each of us where we should be.
Have there been things in our backgrounds that have hurt us?
Have there been things in our backgrounds that have helped us?
Keep your father’s commands and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching.
We are to hold onto those things that have been good instruction and then we can pass those onto our children.
Lord, as I look back over my life, thank You for helping me to follow the instruction that was given that brought me to You. Then help me to teach that to my children and my children’s children.
