Can you feel it when you are in the presence of someone who doesn’t want you around?
I can, and it is never where I want to be. It almost makes me sick and today’s verses back me up on that.
“Do not eat the food of a begrudging host, do not crave his delicacies; for he is the kind of person who is always thinking about the cost. ‘Eat and drink,’ he says to you, but his heart is not with you. You will vomit up the little you have eaten and will have wasted your compliments.” Proverbs 23:6-8
Now, the truth is, we can’t control how other people treat us, but we can move to the flip side of this and determine we will never be a begrudging host.
We need to be willing to use our homes to be welcoming, nurturing, encouraging, a place where people can find hope, help, and healing.
Jesus, please help us to give freely and help to bring joy into people’s lives.
