We are in a season of lawlessness in many places around our country. We have walked away from God’s precepts and decided to follow our own ways. Many are doing what they see fit to do, but the problem is that it does not work. I cannot go my own way, making up my own rules, and expect the world to make sense.
It won’t. God has established His laws and only following those commands will establish a peaceful, make sense world.
The psalmist understood completely how important following God’s ways was and determined he would not walk away from them.
“I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.” Psalm 119:59-61
He was declaring that even if he had to suffer consequences because he was following God’s ways, he was willing for that to happen.
It may come down to that for us.
Are we willing follow the Lord’s laws even if we end up being bound with ropes?
Again, it might come down to that for us.
Jesus, I thank You that today I have the freedom to follow Your laws. Help me to have the courage to follow them even if that freedom should one day be taken away.
