My Own Direction

David wrote this psalm to teach us. He wanted us to understand that it is God who brings the victory. We must be in right standing with Him. There is nothing in life more important than following the Lord.

When we disobey, we are in trouble.

When we demand our own way, we are in trouble.

When we go after what we want and neglect what He wants, we are in trouble.

And it really is where most of the world is going--our own way. And when we get there we realize it isn’t what we wanted any way. The only thing in life that brings everlasting joy is a relationship with Jesus. He is where the victory lies.

“Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies? Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.” Psalm 60:9-12

Lord, I’m sorry for going my own direction. Please forgive me and help me to follow You.
