I love the mountains. There is something so majestic and beautiful when observing their stateliness against the horizon. They tower over me. They let me know how small I truly am by comparison. They are often so gigantic that it’s hard to see the top if I’m standing close. And yet, the mountains are nothing in comparison to our Lord. As we read this next section from Psalms we see a bit of a description of the power, majesty, and glory that encircle God. Words are not big enough to describe Him, but words are the medium that we have to try to understand His greatness. What we see is the majestic mountains cannot even stand in His presence. “Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all peoples see his glory.” Psalm 97:2-6
Mountains melt; the heavens proclaim His righteousness; all people will see who He is, and someday all will bow.
Heavenly Father, help me to bow my heart before You right now. You are the Mighty King of the universe. There is none like You and yet, You know my name.
