We sometimes wonder why we go through the hurts, challenges, and difficulties that we face. We want to run from those but God has a plan and a purpose in everything.
We can see that so clearly in the life of Joseph. Today’s verses in this psalm remind us that God knew all that Joseph was facing but He also knew all He was going to do because of it.
“He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; and he sent a man before them—Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true. The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.” Psalm 105:16-22
Joseph had to be in Egypt. Yes, he entered that foreign land as a slave and he endured suffering while he was there but God’s plan was to make him the ruler. He went through so much including being falsely accused and imprisoned. But he was called out of the prison and in one day was made the second highest ruler in the land.
We never know when God wants to take the darkest of our days and turn them into the brightest of our futures. It is what He did with Joseph. He worked all of the events in Joseph’s life for his good and God’s glory. He wants to do the same for us.
We have been through some dark days this last year. Thank You that out of the darkness, You bring light. Out of the ashes You bring beauty.
