Psalm 119:106-110 “I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts.”
No matter what, the most important thing is to follow God’s Word. Through suffering we can stay grounded in the Scripture. When there is danger, because others break the laws of God, instead of looking at the chaos, we can focus on God’s commands. When wickedness and evil in the world feel like they could overtake us, the place to run is to God’s laws for comfort, peace, and real safety.
And because of that, praise is just a natural response. When we recognize the beauty, the security, the peace we find in God’s Word, worship just oozes out of our hearts. We can join with the psalmist, “Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.” Psalm 119:111-112
Today, Lord, my heart is overwhelmed with praise, thanksgiving and adoration for the exquisite glory of every Word that has proceeded out of Your mouth. Thank You. May I be faithful to Your decrees to the very end.
