“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?”
There are beach people. There are those who always want to vacation on the sunny sands and enjoy the vast oceans. They gasp with delight over porpoise and dolphin and the occasional whale breach.
There are mountain people. They want the cool forests and snow-capped peaks and mountain fauna.
For me, I’ll choose the mountains every time. I absolutely love their vast height and massive presence. The mountains just naturally cause my eyes to lift toward the heavens and I feel small in their grandeur.
The question the psalmist asked may be one that has crossed our minds when we stand at the foot of one of the mountain ranges the Lord has so graciously provided for our world. Where does our help come from?
But then he answers, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:2
Our help comes from Almighty God, because He doesn’t just provide help for us in our time of need. He is our help; He is our helper every moment of every day.
Lord, today, as I lift my eyes to the heavens, I just want to thank You for help in my needs, and being the Helper throughout all my days.
