“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth does not betray justice. Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making.” Proverbs 16:9-11
We each have a sense of what is right and what is wrong. We know that people in authority are to speak truth. We believe that honesty should be at the heart of our business and workplace interactions. We need to live in integrity.
Why do we believe this?
God has put it in our hearts.
So, the question we must ask ourselves is whether or not what we know to be right is being shown in our actions and words. Do we speak with integrity and justice? Are we sure our dealings are honest and fair?
Our world has begun to leak out a philosophy that we can do whatever we want as long as we don’t hurt anyone else. But refusing to be true to the calling God has placed on our lives is the worst kind of hurt we can make.
God knows what we do. We know what we do.
We may try to hide it from the world and maybe even try to hide it from ourselves. But God knows.
Are we living the life that is true to God and His Word?
It’s a serious question and needs a serious answer.
Lord, help me to be true to You. Help me never to use dishonest scales or differing weight’s. Help me to use Your Word to measure everything I do.
