Have you ever tried to help someone out of a tough situation?
You offered clear advice, lent a helping hand, offered strategies that would assist, and then that same person got mad at you.
Hey, don’t feel bad. That kind of thing has been going on for hundreds of years. Here’s what Proverbs says, “Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” Proverbs 9:7-9
This section is pretty clear, wicked people don’t love correction. Wise people do.
And how can we be wise? Again, Proverbs gives us the answer.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.” Proverbs 9:10-12
Wise people vs mockers:
Intelligence is not wisdom.
Having the ability to acquire wealth is not wisdom.
Power is not wisdom.
Without knowing the Lord and His Word, we can’t find real wisdom.
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for Your word. I want to experience all that is within its pages.
