There are lots of things that we use the word “great” to describe. The Great Smoky Mountains, the Greatest Show on Earth, Alexander the Great, Great Britain, Oz, the great and powerful…but are they truly great? We use the term over and over for things that are big, or to affirm things that we agree with, or to describe something powerful. But the word actually and appropriately belongs to One who is truly great.
“I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”
We have no clue about how wonderful, amazing, awesome, and great our God is. It is beyond our comprehension. He is worthy of all our praise and adoration. He is so far beyond anything that we can term great. But even though we cannot wrap our minds around His greatness, we can offer our praise, our gratitude, and do it every day.
Father God, You are great and most worthy of my praise. I offer it to You today. Even though my heart cannot fully fathom how marvelous and great You are, I will continue to praise Your name forever.
