I have to tell you that I like the way these verses begin today. They give honor to those with grey hair.
I think because it means life has been lived long enough that we’ve seen some of the foolish decisions we’ve made and that they didn’t work. And we’ve been around long enough to have seen foolish decisions others have made, and they didn’t work.
So, what does work?
“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness. Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city. The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.” Proverbs 16:31-33
We have seen this Proverb outline patience, grace, love, wisdom, the way to success. Living out God’s Word is the key to success.
That means we need to read it, take time to understand it, determine to live it, and share it.
Following after Jesus Christ as His disciple and living out His Word is the way to have success. The very first verse of Proverbs 16 says, “To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.”
We have our own plans but His are way better.
Follow after Him.
Lord Jesus, I commit my way to You. Please help me to read and follow Your Word.
