“We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. You say, ‘I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity. When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’” Psalm 75:1-5
“You say”…when God speaks everyone should listen. His voice can whisper to a frightened heart, or thunder across the universe. He can comfort the afflicted or afflict the comfortable to move their hearts. But when He talks, it will be exactly as He has said. We cannot argue, cajole, or demand, but we can pray and bring our requests to Him.
“You judge”…someday when we stand before Him, it will be exactly as He sees fit. All petitions and pleas will be done. He will make His pronouncement and we will know without a shadow of a doubt, that it is not only deserved, it is right. The wicked may boast today, but in their position before the King of Kings there will be no boasting, there will be no defiance. God will rule justly.
But here is the really, really good news. If we have accepted Christ as Savior, our sins will be forgiven, our judgment will be based on what Christ has done, not on what we have done. And that is so worth praising the Lord for today.
Lord, with my whole heart I express my gratitude. You made a way for me to not be judged on my own righteousness, but rather on Yours and to have eternity with You.
